Dear Reader,
War is a mysterious item that has tactics that few know. Based of the mystery of war, I chose to do a multigenre research project over the Art of War. I was interested in the aspect of war because of my affiliation with the military. I have not have a previous experience with the Art of War. Reason being that I have not had a chance to read the strategic guide until I decided to do this project.
Before this project the only thing I knew about the Art of War was that it was used by military forces around the world that led to the victories that they received. Also that it was written because of a challenge made.
I learned who used the strategic guide, how it was used, and why it was used. In a quick snap I can say that I learned why the guide was such a successful guide.
I did use a few questions to help guide me through my research. Some being that I asked myself “who used the guide?”, “ why did using the guide lead to
victories?”, and “What was the reason behind using the Art of War as a guide?”
I found my information for this project searching the Internet for most part. Finding feasible websites to use was the complicated part of the research procedure. I
went with information from the History Channel, a press website that did a story on the book, and of course the book itself.
What knowledge I have gained about the Art of War consists of the following notes I took. I learned that even though the book is said to have been written by a man named Sun Tzu , that there are people who speculate on whether he wrote or if he even existed. Also that I found out who used by famous military leader all over the world in different time periods. The initial questions I had difficult to answer because the answers are not simplistic and could not be answered without doing any of the research about it. Such as answering “Why it has been a successful guide to follow when faced with a challenged?” can be answered by stating that by using each chapter of the book to formulate a plan on how to tackle the challenge and making the challenge a small milestone in your success to be scripted into the history books. So by following the research I have gathered I was allowed to answer each question with a complex but understandable solution.
Doing this project has changed my understanding of the Art of War by helping me get a more in-depth explanation of it and how it does not only apply
to war but almost all challenges that are presented to a person. I would be pleased if you, the reader, took something away from this project after you have
seen every aspect that will be presented to you. That one thing being you now know what the Art of War is. If you have any prior knowledge of the Art of War, then maybe you take away a deeper understanding of what it is and how in history used this guide as an advantage.
I have used four genres to help establish a more in-depth understanding on my topic:The Art of War. The first genre is a time line. It shows a time period and where each event was and when it happened. The second genre is a wordle. It shows words related to the subject and the colors of it go well with the type of topic I chose. Genre
three is a video. It establishes visual of who used the guide and what each chapter of the guide is about. And the final genre is a newspaper article. It
is used as if someone was doing a small story on explaining who used and what is the Art of War.
Sincerely,
The Author, Donald Stuteville
